New detection profile

Use this form to create a new detection profile.

Options:

• Profile name – enter the name of the profile.
• Default profile – enable if the profile is to be taken as the default for newly added computers.
• Period of automatic detection planning (days) – enter a number of days to pass before the next automatic detection. If you enter 0, the detection planning will be disabled and no detections will be repeated.
• Use the same detection method for hardware and software detection – select if you want to detect hardware and software in the same way.
  • Detection method – select the detection method you want to use to detect computers.
  • Agent port number – if you use the Agent over TCP/IP detection method, enter the port number for TCP/IP data communication with the agent.
  • Path to the shared folder – if you use the Agent over shared folder detection method, enter the path to the shared folder for the data exchange with the agent.
• Hardware
  • Detect hardware – enable this option if you want to detect the hardware in your computer.
  • Update objects in the tree – enable if you want to automatically update objects in the tree according to the detection result, see Hardware detection.
• Software
  • Detect software – enable this option if you want to detect the software in your computer.
    • Normal (registry, services and selected files) – select if it is sufficient for you to detect the SW by normal detection.
      Note:

      If you use Normal detection, the system will first detect data from the Windows registry and the information on files that are launched from the Start menu and from the Desktop. This option is quicker and usually fully sufficient in practice.
    • Complete (as Normal and also all files on local hard drives) – select if you want to detect SW by the complete detection.
      • Include files – enter a mask for the file and folder names to scan during the detection process. For example, if you only want to scan files with the exe and dll file extensions, enter the mask "*.exe;*.dll". The exe, com, dll, ocx, drv and scr file extensions are scanned by default.
      • Skip files – enter a mask for the file and folder names to skip during the detection process. For example, if you want to skip the folder System Volume Information, enter "*\System Volume Information\*". If there is a collision between the Include files and Skip files masks, the Skip files mask has priority.
      Notification:

      If you use Full detection, the system will detect data from the Windows system registry, as well as the information on all executable files on all hard drives. This may take some time.
    • Update Installation Registry – enable this option if you want to automatically record the data on the software detected into the Installation Registry.
