New custom item

Use this form to create a new custom item.

Options:

  • Name of the custom item – enter a name of the custom item under which the item will appear in the application to users.
  • Order – enter the order in which the item should be displayed in the forms. The items are displayed in ascending order by the Order value. If two items have the same Order value, their mutual order will be random.
  • Type – select the custom item type from the menu:
    Type Meaning Display in forms
    bit logical value yes/no checkbox
    int integer text field
    float decimal number text field
    nvarchar string text field
datetime date and time date and time text fields with a calendar selection

The following fields are displayed only for the nvarchar type:

    • Multi-line text – enable this option if you want to display a larger input field for multi-line text input in the forms. If the option is disabled, only a one-line input field is displayed.
      Note:
This option could not be combined with value list.
    • Length – enter the maximum text length in characters which can be written into the item.
    • Maximum length – enable if you want to save long texts into the item.
  • Description – enter a description of the item that will appear in the forms as a help for the user to fill in the item.
  • Table – select the entity for which you want to create a custom item:
Value in menu (name of the table in the database) Entity
    tHdTicketCust Request
    tPersonCust Person
    tAccoutCust Organization
    tHdSectionCust Service
    tSlaCust SLA
    LicHistCust License
    ProductCust Products
  • Column – enter the name of the column in the database where the value of this custom item will be stored. The name must be unique and must not contain spaces nor special characters. We recommend naming your columns in English and following the appropriate recommendations for naming identifiers in the database.
  • Use list of values – the custom item will appear on the forms as a text box with a drop-down menu. After you enable this option, populate the value menu with the EditList of values command.
The list can be used only for nvarchar and int types. It is possible to write a value that is not in the value list to the custom item of the nvarchar type. Custom item values of the int type are limited to the values in the value list, another value cannot be written to them, and the value of the custom item automatically changes when you edit the value in the value list.
  • Enable value list translation – enable this option if you want the values from the list of values to be exported for translation to other languages and displayed to users based in their preferred language.
