Monitoring Agent 6.0 SP1 and Earlier

If you are upgrading ALVAO Monitoring to version 8.0, we recommend that you upgrade Monitoring Agents in the individual monitored computers too. However, the current Agent version can work with earlier Agent versions. For this to work, you need to enable the support for earlier versions of Agent in Monitoring Server. The reason for this is the fact, that in ALVAO Monitoring 6.0 SP1 and earlier the Server would contact the Agent and download the required data from there. From version 6.0 SP2 the Agent contacts the WebService to send data.

If the WebService receives any data from a computer, the Server will not contact this computer in future, assuming that the Agent has been updated.

Enabling Support for Legacy Agent Versions

  1. Go to the Server installation folder (by default %Program Files%\ALVAO\Monitoring Server) and open the MonitoringServer.exe.config file in a text editor.
  2. In the XML file find the LegacyMode item and replace the False value with True.
  3. Save the file.
  4. Restart the ALVAO Monitoring Server 2 service.

The support for legacy Agent versions is disabled by default.
