TeamViewer Connector (Preview)
This connector enables IT service desk agents and asset managers to launch TeamViewer remote desktop sessions directly from Alvao tickets or objects (assets).
Requirements
- ALVAO Asset Management or ALVAO Service Desk
- TeamViewer
Installation
In TeamViewer:
- Sign in to TeamViewer Web App, open Profile Settings and select Apps.
- Click Create Script Token.
- Enter a token name, and copy the generated token.
- The token will be used by the integration to access the TeamViewer API on behalf of your organization.
In ALVAO:
- Go to Administration – Applications and select the TeamViewer Integration application.
- Configure application settings: TeamViewer.Token – enter the token created in previous steps.
- Enable the application.
Importing devices from TeamViewer
The connector periodically retrieves information from TeamViewer and updates the corresponding computer objects in Alvao.
Alvao objects are matched with TeamViewer devices using the following identifiers, in order:
- TeamViewer GUID
- Hostname
- TeamViewer device ID
A unique match based on at least one of these values is required.
If no matching Alvao object is found, a new object is created in the Imported objects folder in the object tree. Review this folder regularly and move objects to appropriate locations in the object tree. Alvao automatically chooses the best-fitting object type for newly created objects. If necessary, you can change the type afterward.
The connector updates the following computer object properties:
- Hostname
- TeamViewer device ID
- TeamViewer last check-in
- Manufacturer
- RAM size (GB)
- Total storage capacity (GB)
These properties are automatically added to the computer object templates during the initial run of the connector. They are also added to the default computer object type. If you plan to use some other object types with this connector, add these properties to them manually.
Starting unattended session
To initiate a session to control a remote computer without its user assistance, go to Alvao - Objects - select a computer object, and choose ... - TeamViewer session. This opens TeamViewer launch window to start session with the selected computer.
The session start is automatically logged in the Object - Log tab.
You can also use the Object - Open in TeamViewer command to open the TeamViewer computer page.
Starting attended support
To provide support to a user by connecting to a remote computer from a support ticket in Alvao, go to Tickets - select the user's support ticket, and choose the Request TeamViewer session via Teams command. This starts an MS Teams chat with the ticket requester and sends an initial message with connection instructions.
When the user replies with the 9-digit ID and password, open TeamViewer App, and enter the 9-digit ID and password.
The session start is automatically logged in the Object - Log tab.
