Unrecognized Applications

The Unrecognized Applications page contains a list of applications that the system has failed to recognize. These are either custom-made applications or applications that have not been included in the software products library. The most frequently used applications are listed on the top.

Creating Custom Application in the Software Products Library

  1. Browse the list from the top and assign the list entries to applications by clicking on Assign application.
  2. This will display a form to create a new application recognition rule.

    Internet

You can assign the rule only to custom applications in the Library. If you select "Create new application", a text field will be displayed.

    Internet
  3. Finish the new rule creation process by clicking the Create Rule button.

Applications can be assigned only based on their

  • Product name
  • Product version
  • Publisher
  • Original file name
You can also use placeholder characters. For example, if you use "Microsoft%" for the product name, this rule will include all processes with the product name starting with "Microsoft". An overview of processes covered with the rule is provided in the Processes covered by rule (max. 200) table.

The changes will not take immediate effect in the analysis. The Monitoring Server will re-assign applications to processes based on current rules once in every 24 hours, at night. If you want to see the changes immediately, you can use the Reverse analysis of existing records feature.

Automatic sending of unrecognized applications

The most frequently used unrecognized applications are sent to ALVAO company every week to be added into the Software products library after analysis.
