ALVAO Mobile Inventory

The module is used to perform physical asset stocktaking by using mobile barcode readers of Motorola/Zebra/Symbol MCxxxx series with the Microsoft Windows CE / Microsoft Embeded CE / Microsoft Windows Embeded Compact operating system. These readers include, for example: MC3000, MC3100, MC3190, MC32N0, MC3200.

Asset import

  1. Copy the IXM file exported from AM Console to the reader – see How to perform stocktaking of assets with barcode reader.
  2. In the main window of the mobile application use the main menu Menu – Import command.
  3. Select a file wit the IXM extension which you have exported from the Stocktaking window in ALVAO Asset Management Console.
  4. Once the import is finished, you can check the database content using the Menu – Database – Show command.

Filter settings

This is especially convenient if you are performing the stocktaking "by rooms".

  1. Click on the filter (filter) button in the main menu in the application's main window.
  2. This opens a window where you select whether you want to filter by location, center, or user.
  3. Click on OK to confirm the filter.

Code scanning

Find a label with barcode on the asset and scan it with the scanner. The scanned code is compared to serial, inventory and asset number of the asset maintained in the Asset Management.
Several variants may occur:

  1. The asset has been found in the Asset Management – an information about the asset is displayed in the main window and the asset is labeled as "Found".
  2. The asset has been found in the Asset Management but the data do not match the filter set – displays the window with a warning that the scanned asset does not match the filter. It is possible to move the asset to other location, center, or user.
  3. The asset has not been found in the Asset Management – the application offers to create a new asset and to fill in its data.
  4. The scanned code is reported in multiple assets – the application prompts to scan the additional code on the asset (e.g. serial number) in order to uniquely identify the asset.

View the remaining asset list

The application main window shows, how many asset items are remaining to scan. This number depends on the filter selected.

  1. In the application main window click the devicelist (asset list) button in the main menu.
  2. Displays an asset list with a status whether the asset has been found or not. According to the list is possible to e.g. find next asset in the room.

Completing the information about the scanned asset

  1. Scan the asset barcode
  2. The application main window displays information about the asset.
  3. Click the edit(edit) button in the application main window.
  4. Displays a window where it is possible to change the asset data, e.g. complete the serial number by scanning another code from the asset into the respective field.
  5. After finishing the editing, click on the save (save) button in the application's main window.

Exporting the asset into file

  1. In the main window use the main menu Menu – Export command.
  2. Select the location and enter a file name.
  3. Copy the exported IXM file back to the computer.

Note: Exported IXM file is then possible to load back into the stocktaking in the AM Console and compare the registered vs. real situation.
