Installation

Computer Requirements

  • ALVAO Service Desk
  • Microsoft Outlook 2013 or 2010

Activation

The module is needed to activate with the activation key which you can receive from your ALVAO system vendor.

  1. In the ALVAO Admin application select the File – Activation command.
  2. Provide your activation key.

Installation to single computer

  1. On the computer run the AlvaoOutlookAddIn.msi installation package a follow the Wizard instructions.
  2. Run or restart MS Outlook.
  3. In the MS Outlook go to the File – ALVAO Add-On settings menu and to the Service Desk Web Service – URL item enter the Service Desk Web Service address with usual format: https://server/servicedeskwebservice/ServiceDeskWebService.asmx.
    Note:
    The same address of Service Desk Web Service must be provided in ALVAO Admin – Manage – Service Desk – Settings – General tab.

Batch installation on computers

The extension is possible to be batch installed on several computers using the Active Directory – Group Policy tool or another one allowing to batch distribute MSI installation packages on the computer group.

Installation package transformation

In order to not require a manual setting of the path to Service Desk Web Service on each computer after the package installation, we recommend first to perform the following process of creating the install package transformation applicable to the original installation package during distribution.

  1. Install the Orca application, a component of e.g. Windows SDK (C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft SDKs\Windows\v7.0A\bin\Orca.Msi), it can eventually be found on the Internet separately.
  2. Open the extension original installation package in the Orca application.
  3. Go to the main menu and use the Transform – New Transform command.
  4. In the tables overview on the left side select Property.
  5. In the properties overview use th context menu Add Row command or use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+R.
  6. Write WSURL to the Property name. Warning: The property name is required to be in uppercase letters.
  7. As the property value enter the current address of Service Desk Web Service with usual format https://server/ServiceDeskwebservice/ServiceDeskWebService.asmx.
  8. Go to the main menu and use the Transform – Generate Transform command.
  9. Save the file as "AlvaoOutlookAddIn.mst".
