ALVAO Outlook Addin
The ALVAO Outlook Addin is an extension for MS Outlook 2010 which allows you to work with e-mails sent from within Service Desk requests more efficiently.
How To Use This Extension
If the Subject of an e-mail message, calendar item or task contains the reference number of an existing request, you can display the request details in the reading pane, or select View Request from the context menu to display the request details in a separate Service Desk Console window or on the Service Desk Portal, based you your settings.
Settings
You can find ALVAO Settings in Outlook under File – ALVAO Add-On Settings.
Service Desk Web Service
For the extension to work correctly, you need to set up the correct Service Desk Web Service URL and user authentication.
Reading Pane
If you enable the Display request in reading pane, the reading pane will display all request details in the same form as on the Service Desk Portal.
The "Display Request" Command
Here you can make settings for the behavior of the Display Request command.
Based on your selection in the section Display requests in, recognized requests will display either in the Service Desk Console, or on the Service Desk Portal.
Service Desk Console
These settings are only available, if you have enabled Display requests in – Service Desk Console.
Tip:
If you have installed the Service Desk Console and if the field Path to Desk Console is blank, the field Path to Service Desk Console will be filled in automatically, once you change your selection from Display requests in – Service Desk Portal to Display requests in – Service Desk Console.
You can use the Browse button to set up the Path to Service Desk Console manually, if it has not been pre-filled automatically, for example because the Service Desk Console is installed on a shared network drive.
