The tab allows to edit the general information about the product.

Warning:
Only the Price field is editable for products from the standard software library.

Options:

  • Publisher – from the menu select the product publisher or create a new one in the system using ....
  • Name – provide or select the product name.
    Notes:
  • Only the products of the selected publisher are in the menu. If no publisher is selected, the menu contains all the products.
  • Based on the selected product, the lists Version, Edition, and Platform will be filled with known values for the selected product.
  • Version – enter the product version.
  • Edition – enter the product edition.
  • Platform – enter the platform (operating system) the product is intended for (e.g. Windows).
  • Language – select the product's language version from the menu. <none> means this value is not entered.
  • Price – enter the product price.
    Note:
This field works together with the software audit in the Overview of licenses and installations window. This window includes the Risk column where the risks associated with the installation of non-licensed products is calculated. (Risk = number of non-licensed installations x product price)
  • Licensing – select the following
    • Commercial – commercial (paid) product, including OEM licenses.
    • Shareware/Trial – time-limited (trial) product version.
    • Freeware – full product of a free product.
    • Unspecified – unknown license type.
  • Product categories
    • Operating system – enable this option if the product is an operating system.
  • Add to standard software products library – enable this option hen you want to add the request into the standard Software products library.
    Note:
The adding process starts with a request generated to add the new product to the standard Software products library. The request is sent by the Collector over the Internet to our specialists who maintain the Software products library. Once a new product has been entered in the standard Software products library, the user-defined product will be replaced with the new product from the standard library.
This is convenient for example if you own a license to a product not contained in the standard library and you need to enter this product to the system. You can simply create a user-defined product and use it as usual. Once you have created a product in the standard library, the user-defined product will be paired with the product in the standard library and replaced.
    Warning:
If you want to send these requests, you will need to enable sending the requests in the Collector settings.
