Detection Method

The tab allows to select the detection method and to refine other settings of the selected method eventually.

Options:

  • Detection Method – select from the menu in which manner you want to detect the computer. The detection methods and how to choose the detection is described here.
  • Agent port number – enter the port number for TCP/IP data communication with the Agent, if you are using the following detection: Agent over TCP/IP.
  • Share path – specify the path to the shared folder for data exchange with the agent if you are using the following detection: Agent over shared folder.
  • The connecting string to the MS System Center Configuration Manager database – set the connection string to the MS SCCM database.
    Example: Data Source=localhost;Initial Catalog=CM_SITE;Integrated Security=SSPI;Provider=sqloledb.
    Warning:
    This settings will display only after MS SCCM Connector module activation.
    The connecting string can be set only in the Alvao Admin application – Manage – Asset Management – Settings – the Detection tab – Set – the Detection Method tab. It is only displayed in the Asset Management Console.
Tip:
You set the detections global settings used by default for detecting all computers in the ALVAO Admin.
You can set custom detection settings for specific computers in the Asset Management Console and change the detection method in it.
