Global Monitoring Settings

You can use Manage – Monitoring – Settings in ALVAO Admin to edit the settings for the entire server-based part of ALVAO Monitoring. All settings are arranged on three tabs.

Connection

Computer List

Use this tab to set up the communication parameters between Monitoring WebService and Monitoring Agent:

  • Monitoring portal address – URL of the Monitoring Portal (and the WebService)
  • Authentication method – ALVAO Monitoring supports two Agent authentication methods. If you select the password authentication, WebService will compare the password sent by the Agent with the value entered here. The second authentication method uses certificates. In this case, you need to set up this authentication method in IIS too. When using certificates as the authentication method, ALVAO Monitoring fully relies on IIS.

Permissions

Computer List

Use this tab to set up the default user access policy to records containing information about their own activity as well as about the activity of other users. Please refer to the System Users section for detailed information on permission settings for individual users.

WMI

Computer List

WMI is a Windows component used by ALVAO Admin for remote installation and diagnostics of Agents. Use this tab to make default settings for all computers. The Login used for these settings must have administrator permissions.

Please refer to the Monitored Computers section for detailed information on WMI settings for individual computers.
