Adding Own Computer to Registry

  1. Right-click on the object MyCompany Inc. in the tree and select the New computer command from the menu. The New Computer window opens.
  2. Click on Create computer manually, select the object kind and network name (if a numeric sequence is not used for the selected kind) and check Detect computer information over network via saved settings. Click Finish to continue.
  3. Confirm the date on which you added your computer to the Registry.
  4. Your new computer will appear in the tree. If you now select this computer and go to the Detection tab, you will find two open requests on hardware and software detection.
  5. Run the Collector from the Start – ALVAO Asset Management – Collector menu. A status icon Collector status icon appears in the Windows taskbar, indicating that the Collector is running. If you double-click this icon, the main Collector window will open. The Collector's task is to detect computers based on the requests sent over the Console. You can watch the request processing progress in the main Collector window.
  6. Once the Collector has performed and evaluated the detections, the detected software appears on the Software tab and in the Installation Registry (see Software – Installation Registry). The detected hardware will appear in the tree under the computer. You can view the detection details if you right-click on the computer in the tree or on the detection, select the Details command from the context menu and go to the Detection tab in the main Console window.
Note:
This simple detection method only works on computers with Windows 2000 or later, see Hardware and Software Detection.
