Sending messages

The page is used to basic setting of sending messages in the ALVAO system.

Options:

  • SMTP Server
    • Address – enter the address or the name of the SMTP server on the network.
    • Port – enter the port number of the SMTP server. For secure connections (SSL) this is usually 465, for non-secure it is 25.
    • Authentication – select the authentication type from the menu.
      • User name and password – into the following fields, enter the name and password of the user authorized to send messages from the given SMTP server.
        Notification:
The name and password are stored in the ALVAO database in an unencrypted form.
      • Integrated authentication – select this option if the SMTP server is able to authenticate users in an integrated way. The user account under which the MailboxReader service is running must have permission from the given SMTP server to send messages.
    • User name – enter the user name of the user authorized to send messages from the specified SMTP server.
    • Password – enter the user password.
    • SSL – enable if you want to use secured (encrypted) connection to the SMTP server.
  • Message sender
    • Address – enter the email address for sending general messages from ALVAO.
      E.g.: ALVAO DontReply <do-not-reply@domain.com>

For example, ALVAO sends bulk SLA notifications, notifications to ALVAO administrators of deficiencies found in automatic system setup checks, etc. from this address. Messages related to requests in ALVAO Service Desk are sent from mailboxes of services.

    • Notification:
System does not allow receiving messages, so we recommend entering a non-existent e-mail address or an address where you can arrange message collection in a different way.
