Scan

Setting up scans in the ALVAO Discovery Agent module.

Options:

  • Keep only one valid scan per machine - keep only the most recent scan for each device and automatically delete the old ones. Otherwise, all historical scan files will be kept.

  • Agent authenticatication code - Enter the code used to authenticate standalone Agents when communicating with the WebService. You must enter the same code when installing Agents.

  • Automatically create new device objects - turn on to create new object for each new computer scanned by AM Agent. Otherwise, only scans from devices with existing objects will be processed. Scans from devices without objects will be ignored.

  • Scheduling - this section is unavailable in ALVAO SaaS.

    • Schedule for evaluations and automatic scan loading (SQL Server load) - enable device scan processing schedule. We recommend to schedule processing at off-peak hours. Otherwise scans will be processed continuously and may slowdown applications response during peak hours. Scanning itself runs continuously and is independent on this processing schedule.
      • Evaluate scans daily only in the following interval - specify off-peak interval in Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) in which you want to process scan data.
      • Exceptions (the schedule does not apply to the following days)
        • Monday, ..., Sunday - select days on which scan data will not be processes. E.g., you may exclude some working days from processing. Usually, these fields are unnecessary to use.

  • Loading files - this section is unavailable in ALVAO SaaS.

    • Automatic loading of scan files (*.CXM) - turn on this option to enable loading of scan files from AM Agent.
      • Load CXM files automatically from - select the storage from which the files will be loaded:
        • Folder- choose this option for loading data from a disk folder.
          • Path - enter the folder path.
          • If the loading process succeeded/failed - choose what happens with the data file after the process is finished in each of cases. The file can be deleted or moved to the specified folder.
        • Microsoft Azure storage
          • Connection string - enter a valid MS Azure storage connection string, e.g., DefaultEndpointsProtocol=https;AccountName=alvao;AccountKey=4s8rW4d5r7d4s7232er;EndpointSuffix=core.windows.net.
