Object Templates
Object templates are object definitions used to create objects in the asset tree (or in Object samples). A template defines the properties, icon, etc. for the object. Templates can be edited, created, or deleted and properties can be added to or removed from existing templates.
Before you can edit Object Templates, you need to enable the option Show hidden objects on the View tab in the Tools – Settings menu. The tree root will, among other objects, contain the Object templates folder which contains subfolders with the individual templates that will be used to create the organizational structure and assets in the tree.
Warning:
It is not recommended to perform any major changes in the templates, especially in the Computer and Computer Set templates. Some objects and properties are closely related to the entire system, queries and print reports. Some changes to the templates may cause such objects and properties stop working. Creating new objects and adding properties to existing objects are safe operations.
Warning:
New version of sample templates may be included in future system upgrades. It is therefore advisable to keep any changes to templates under control so you can reproduce them later in future releases. For example, you may want to save all new objects in a folder called Custom objects. This will allow you to move simply the entire folder to the new templates during the upgrade.
