Move Object
You can easily move objects around the tree with your mouse using the drag & drop method or using the Windows clipboard (the keyboard shortcuts Ctrl+X and Ctrl+V). If the tree has a deeper structure, the drag & drop method or using the clipboard may become less convenient. In that case, follow the steps below:
- Go to the tree and right-click on the object that you want to move.
- Select - Move command from the menu.
- The Select target object window opens where you can select the target object to move the former object to. Then click OK.
- You can open the Date and Time window where you can enter the real date and time of moving the object if you are recording the fact that the object has been moved ex post.
- The object displays in its new location.
Tip: If you enable the option Don't show this window next time and use current date and time in the Date and Time window, the window will not be opened next time. If you need to enable opening this window in future again, go to Tools – Settings, click on the General tab and disable the option Create history records including current date and time.
Once the object has been moved, you can print out the Handover protocol:
- In the objects tree select the object you have moved.
- Select Print command from the context menu.
- A list of print reports opens. Select Internal handover protocol if you have moved the object to another employee of your company, or External handover protocol if you have moved the object e.g. to a servicing organization.
- If you select the internal handover protocol, the Handover protocol (internal) window will open where you can complete or edit the information about the object you have moved. If you select Generate new document, the Handover protocol in the PDF format will be added to your document Registry.
- If you select the external protocol, the Handover protocol (external) window will open.
- Finally, the print report view will open on the screen in MS Word for internal handover protocols, or in the HTML Document window for external handover protocols, respectively.
Note: If you have enabled numeric sequence to use to generate handover protocols and the Generate new document option is enabled too, you will not be able to enter the document number in the Handover protocol (internal) window. The document number will be generated automatically based on the numeric sequence. See Numeric Sequences.
Warning: To create the attachment in PDF format you need to have Microsoft Word 2007 or later installed on the computer.
Moving Object in the WebApp
- Find the object you want to move using the WebApp search.
- On page with the object detail select the Move command.
- On page Move object select the object which the source object should be moved under.
- Confirm the form by clicking to OK.
- The page with the moved object detail will be displayed.
Warning: You can't move objects to the Recycle bin or Discarded assets using the WebApp.
Return Last Moved Object
Follow the steps below if you want to return the previously moved object to its original position:
- Go to the main menu Edit – Undo last move (Ctrl+Z).
- The object will be moved back to its original position in the Objects Tree.
- Both moves are displayed in the history.
Tip: The permissions in the Objects Tree are ignored in this Undo operation. You can therefore undo also such objects that were previously deleted (moved to the Recycle Bin) by mistake.
Warning: Objects deleted permanently (deleted from the Recycle Bin) cannot be moved back.
Note: Last move history properties:
- History is only kept for the last move
- History is only kept while the active Console window is open
- History will be deleted if you:
- delete an object permanently
- switch to a different database
