Setting Up New Numeric Sequence To Generate Property Values

  1. Select Tools – Lists – Numeric sequences command from the main menu. This will open the Numeric sequence window.
  2. Click on the New button.
  3. The New numeric sequence window opens with the numeric sequence settings.
  4. Provide a name for the new numeric sequence (e.g. "Computer names"), as well as a prefix and a suffix for the sequence (e.g. PC, 1, ALVAO).
  5. Select a property whose value will be generated using the new numeric sequence (e.g. "Name on the network").
    Note:
The list does not display properties with the "Selection only" option enabled. No automated code list can be generated for these properties
  6. Select an object kind (e.g. "Computer") and click the <<Add button next to the list. The object kind will be added to the list.
    Note:
If the list of object kinds is empty, the value will be generated for this property across all object kinds.
  7. Click OK to confirm your changes. If there is a collision between the new numeric sequence and an existing numeric sequence, a warning will be displayed and the new sequence cannot be saved.
    Note:
Numeric sequence defined for certain object kinds has a priority over sequence defined for all object kinds. These two sequences never collide. This rule is valid also for computer kinds.

Numeric sequence generate values for the selected object properties immediately after a new object has been created in the tree (commands "New object", "Copy object"). The generated property value can be later edited manually. Optionally, you can also check for duplicities in property definitions.
