Duplicate Requests

If there are two or more identical requests in the system logged by a single requester, you can:

  • keep one and delete all remaining duplicate requests with the Delete command – see Deleting Requests;
  • merge identical requests into a single request with Edit – Merge requests.

Using Edit – Merge requests will move the Request A Log contents to the Request B Log and delete Request A permanently.
Request B will be found if you search for number of the deleted Request A.
Request A links are merged into Request B links.

Note:
If the links are colliding (a loop might occur), you will be notified when trying to merge. You can either edit the links by yourselves, or let Automatically remove colliding links.

Follow the steps below to merge requests:

  1. Remember the request numbers of the requests that you want to delete by merging.
  2. Go to the Request List and select the request into which the log data from all other identical requests will be inserted.
  3. Go to the main menu and select Edit – Merge requests. The Merge requests window will open. Type the request number of the request from step 1 to the left-hand part of the window. The right-hand part of this window should contain the target request, i.e. the one that will be kept. Only provide the numeric value, i.e. 120 instead of T120SD. Click on Merge to confirm the action.
  4. If you want to merge multiple requests into a single one, simply separate the request (ticket) numbers with semicolons.
Note:
If you want to merge requests, you need to be the operator or solver for all services under which these requests fall. Being the final request solver is not sufficient.
Warning:
The Merge Requests operation cannot be undone.
