Move Object

You can easily move objects around the tree with your mouse using the drag & drop method or using the Windows clipboard (the keyboard shortcuts Ctrl+X and Ctrl+V). If the tree has a deeper structure, the drag & drop method or using the clipboard may become less convenient. In that case, follow the steps below:

  1. Go to the tree and right-click on the object that you want to move.

  2. Select - Move object from the menu.

  3. The Select target object window opens where you can select the target object to move the former object to. Then click OK.

  4. You can open the Date and Time window where you can enter the real date and time of moving the object if you are recording the fact that the object has been moved ex post.

  5. The object displays in its new location.

Tip:

If you enable the option Don't show this window next time and use current date and time in the Date and Time window, the window will not be opened next time. If you need to enable opening this window in future again, go to Tools – Settings, click on the General tab and disable the option Create history records including current date and time.

Once the object has been moved, you can print out the Handover protocol:

  1. Go to the Objects tree and right-click on the object you have moved.

  2. Select - Print from the context menu.

  3. A list of print reports opens. Select Internal handover protocol if you have moved the object to another employee of your company, or External handover protocol if you have moved the object e.g. to a servicing organization.

    1. If you select the internal handover protocol, the Handover protocol (internal) window will open where you can complete or edit the information about the object you have moved. If you select Generate new voucher, the Handover protocol will be added to your document management.

    2. If you select the external protocol, the Handover protocol (external) window will open.

  4. As the final step you can preview your print report in the HTML document window.

Note:

If you have enabled the numeric series to use to generate handover protocols and the Generate new voucher option is enabled too, you will not be able to enter the Voucher number in the Handover protocol (internal) window. The Voucher number will be generated automatically based on the numeric series. See Numeric Series.

Return Last Moved Object

Follow the steps below if you want to return the previously moved object to its original position:

  1. Go to the main menu Edit – Undo last move (Ctrl+Z).

  2. The object will be moved back to its original position in the Objects Tree.

  3. If the Keep object history was enabled for the object, the object history will include both moves.

Tip:

The permissions in the Objects Tree are ignored in this Undo operation. You can therefore undo also such objects that were previously deleted (moved to the Recycle Bin) by mistake.

Warning:
Objects deleted permanently (deleted from the Recycle Bin) cannot be moved back.
Note:

Last move history properties:
  • History is only kept for the last move
  • History is only kept while the active Console window is open
  • History will be deleted if you:
    • delete an object permanently
    • switch to a different database
