If you are working on an event (Note, Phone etc.), you can switch to a message anytime. Go to the main menu in the event window and under Home click on Message.

The window layout will change to the message layout.
The Subject field will be filled in with the request tag (if the Subject field does not contain one already); otherwise the window content remains the same.
The field To will be filled in with the user who was filled in the To field in the Event window.

If no user was filled in the To field in the Event window, the To field will remain blank.

The message window will keep any attachments.
The message window will keep any message text.
The message window will keep time reported in the main menu under the Home category.
The message window will keep the Do not invoice and Display to requester options in the main menu under the Home category.
