Software

If a computer is selected in the Objects tree, this table shows a list of applications installed on that computer. If another object (e.g. department) is selected, the table contains the listo of prgrams installed on its sub-objects of the computer type.

The Software tab includes also the registry entries that were assigned to a proper product by the Software Products Library. Their displaying can be disabled in the Asset Management Console settings: the Tools menu – Settings – the View tab – the View unassigned registry entries option.

The individual record types are distinguished from each other with an icon:
  • Product, eventually, if the product in the software products library is invalid – installed product.
  • Operating system – operating system installed.
  • Registry – unrecognized registry entry.
  • License assigned without reason, eventually, if the license product in the software products library is invalid i.e. a license is assigned to the product not installed.
  • License, "CAL" license type (product installation does not exist), or eventually if the license product is invalid in the Software products library.
  • Required product, eventually, if the application product in the software products library is invalid i.e. the product is defined in the SW profile as required, but is not installed.
  • Executed software applications which can not be assigned to the product and uninstalled products (recognized in the HW/SW Usage Monitoring module, see Software license usage).

The icon indicates a problem with the license or with the software profile. More information is provided in the Error message column.

The Software tab context menu options for computers and computer sets:

  • License
    • Add license – assign the license for the selected product.
    • Remove license – remove license from the selected products installed in the computer selected in the tree.
    • New license for this SW – create a new license for the selected product.
    • Cover by license – cover the selected product by shared license.
    • Special installation – mark the selected license as special (not included into the SW audit).
    • Move – move the selected license to another computer or into the cost center.
    • Edit – edit the selected license in the License Registry.
  • Installation
    • Record installation – record the new installation, the computer selected in the tree is preselected.
    • Record uninstallation – record the selected product uninstallation from the computer selected in the tree.
    • Installation Registry – open the Installation Registry for the computer selected in the tree.
  • Send SW for identification – send the selected records of the registry type for sowtware recognition.
  • Table – the menu allows to customize the table. For example to create filters, views or display multiple rows.
  • Find – search a text in the displayed table.
  • Find parent product – find parent product, license of which covered the selected installation.
  • Delete – delete the information a about the installation of the selected product installed on the computer selected in the tree.
  • Edit – edit the information about the installation of the selected product installed on the computer selected in the tree.

The Software tab context menu options for other objects:

  • Installation Registry – open the Installation Registry.
  • Delete from Installation Registry – delete the selected record from the installation Registry.
  • Send SW for identification – send the selected records of the registry type for sowtware recognition.
  • Table – the menu allows to customize the table. For example to create filters, views or display multiple rows.
  • Find – search a text in the displayed table.
