Insider Preview

Insider Preview is a part of the ALVAO system containing the agilely developed experimental functionalities that are, for the time being, designed only for testing. We continuously update functionalities issued in the Insider Preview mode within issued FIXs and SPs. The description of functionalities that are contained in a specific update can be found on this page in the Updates released chapter.

Enabling Insider Preview

In a default status, the Insider Preview functionalities are not available in applications. If you want to make them available for certain users, proceed as follows:

Add users to the Insider Preview Testers group who you want to make the Insider Preview functionalities available to. The functionalities will remain hidden for other users.
Enable Insider Preview under ALVAO WebApp – Management – Settings – Insider Preview.

After installation of subsequent FIXs and SPs, the Insider Preview will remain enabled.

After upgrading to the new ALVAO version, the Insider Preview will disable automatically and if you want to try new functionalities of the Insider Preview included in the new version, you will have to enable it again. The membership of users in the Insider Preview Testers group will remain from the previous version.

Disabling Insider Preview

Disable the Insider Preview functionalities at any time under ALVAO WebApp – Management – Settings – Insider Preview.

If you want to disable the Insider Preview functionalities only for certain users, remove them from the Insider Preview Testers group.

RTM

New functionalities and changes in Insider Preview:

SD – Request – Communication – new functionality Request specification and solution. Send remarks as comments to the T64932ALVAO idea.
- The creating report containing the request specification is automatically marked with a “flag” icon. Other events in communication may be also subsequently marked as the request specification.
- The Resolved event is automatically marked with a “check” mark to help you find a successful solution process in closed requests. You can also potentially mark other events that contain a solution description.
- On the Communication tab, it is possible to use the Specification and solution filter which displays only the specification and solution of the request.
You can add the system item Objects to the processes of Service Desk Service in order to link more objects from AM to one request in SD. Send remarks as comments to the T61125ALVAO idea.
- The functionality is enabled by adding the Objects item to the process. You do not need to add users to the Insider Preview Testers group to use it.
- You can use the Objects item in the process instead of the Device item.
- Linked objects are displayed in the request detail on a new Objects tab where you can add and remove objects.
- Adding and removing links to objects is automatically recorded in the detailed Request log.
- The operator can link objects to the request at the time of request creation in the SD by using the New request command.
- In the AM Console, it is possible to create a request for several selected objects at once by using the New request command, potentially link the selected objects in bulk to an existing request with the Add to request command.
- The table of objects linked to a specific request can be accessed from the SD Console from the request detail by using the Display in window command in AM Console in the Request – Objects window and work with objects there.
- In the AM Console, the Related requests command also displays requests to which the selected object is linked by a new item of the Objects request.

FIX 1

New functionalities and changes in Insider Preview:

SD – Service Catalog – the page is modified in order to lead the user to a self-service solution of his/her request or problem without having to create a new request. Send remarks as comments to the T87229ALVAO idea.
- The dominant feature is a search box that searches user requests, current news, knowledge base articles, and services to create a new request.
Tip:
You can change the background image. Follow the instructions and at the Custom.css file level create a Custom.scss file. Paste the following in this file:

$requester-search-image: contentpath('img/<file name>');
$requester-search-image-mobile: contentpath('img/<file name with lower solution>');

FIX 3

- The event identification as Request specification has been renamed to Important.

FIX 4

New functionalities and changes in Insider Preview:

SD WA – Home page – a new home page for applicants who can search for information in ALVAO and make new requests. The search box has been moved to this page from the Service Catalog page (ALVAO 10.2 FIX 1 - Insider Preview). The page title and the blank command panel were also removed from the Service Catalog page. Send remarks as comments to the T87229ALVAO idea.

- WA – Request – Communication – Event – you can easily mark an event by clicking on the icons displayed on the left below the event author's portrait, or by Mark as important and Mark as a solution commands that have been added to the drop-down menu on the right.
