Description
- Database
- Use the same database connection as used by the Console
If you enable this option, anytime you launch the Console the Collector settings will automatically include the connection to the current Console database. This mechanism is only working, when you are launching the Console and the Collector from the same computer.
- Set connection manually
Click on this button, if you want to set up the database connection for the Collector manually.
- Database connection timeout (s)
Enter the timeout for the database in seconds. The default value is 300 seconds.
- Start
- Launch as application after user logon
If you enable this option, the Collector will register for automatic startup after a user logs in to the machine.
- Log
- Record to file
Select this option if you want to enable generating the Collector activity log to a file you specify.
- Detail
The value provided here specifies the detail level for the log. The Status and errors value means a brief log (the log will only include regular messages on the activity of the detection and scanning thread, as well as any error messages). This level is fully sufficient for normal system operation. The Medium value will generate a more detailed log, including the names of the detected machines etc. The Detailed level is only recommended for troubleshooting purposes.
- Write the detection and scanning process status every N hours
This is where you can specify the number of hours to elapse between the previous and the next activity entry of the detection and scanning thread in the log. These messages are logged irrespective of the selected logging detail level.
Warning:
If you set the log detail level to Detailed, the Collector will send large amounts of data to the log file. This will slow down the detection process considerably. We therefore recommend using the Detailed level for troubleshooting purposes only. This option should be disabled during normal operation.
