Permissions

This window can be used to define access permissions for certain users to certain object in the tree or to the entire subtree. The permissions can be enabled, disabled or combined.

Description

User

Select a user for whom you want to create certain permissions.

Group

Select a user group for which you want to create certain permissions.

Object kind

Select an object kind to limit the access permissions to a certain kind of an object, e.g. a "Printer". This item is practically useful only if the option Apply rules to sub-objects is enabled.

Object

Select an object in the tree to define the user permissions for.

Apply rules to sub-objects

If you enable this option, the permissions will be applied to the selected object and to all of its sub-objects (i.e. the subtree). If you disable this option, the permissions will apply to the selected object only.

Permissions – enable and deny
Read

The user will be able to see the object in the tree. The user will also be able to see a list of its properties on the Properties tab.

Make changes

The user will be able to edit the object (name, icon, flags) and its properties.

Delete

The user will have the permission to delete the object.

Move

The user will have the permission to move the object around the tree.

Note:

If you want to apply the access permissions for the objects in the tree, you will need to enable the Use permissions in the Object Tree option in the Asset Management settings in the Admin program (for more information, please refer to the Admin Manual).

Note:

The permissions can be defined for a user, or for a user group. Not for both of them simultaneously.
