Release Notes

ALVAO 10.0

Prior to upgrading to a new version, read the Important Warnings chapter. After that, a list of news and changes in the new version follows in the New functionalities and changes chapter. You can find a continuously updated list of released updates at the end of the document.

Important Warnings

This section contains the description of changes in the new product version that may cause certain problems in case of upgrades from legacy versions and/or running the new version. Please read this information carefully before upgrading to the new version.
We also recommend reading the list of known issues in the released versions, see Known problems.

Common for all ALVAO products

  • ALVAO WebApp – The .NET version was upgraded to 4.5. Make sure that you have ASP .NET v4.5 or later installed before you perform the upgrade. You will also need to install a new version of Web.config. This means that prior to upgrading, you will have to move your current version of the file from the installation folder to another folder and then you only transfer the custom settings after the upgrade is completed. ALVAO Asset Management

  • AM – Overview of licenses and installations / SAM Manager report – when filtering by Cost center, the number of licenses does not include unassigned licenses registered without a Cost center. (T51091ALVAO)

ALVAO Service Desk

  • SD – a license per solver check added. Services with an unlimited number of requesters (i.e. services in which the Guest has the SLA) now require a license per solver. For more information please refer to the License Agreement. If during upgrade an alert of exceeding the number of licenses appears, please check the usage of Service Desk licenses per user.   • SD WebApp – the Custom form definitions have changed. When upgrading, the custom forms must be edited according to the instructions so that the forms are displayed properly. (T56374ALVAO)
  • SD – Write / New / New linked request – the Service field – if the user does not enter the service name he/she is looking for, he/she will be shown only services for which he/she has the operator, solver, or manager role and where the selected requester has SLA. This also applies to the Service field of the form for moving a request to another service. (T63340ALVAO)
  • SD WebApp/Console – New / Write / Edit request / Custom form – the Device field – the user can only select the devices that he/she is authorized to see or the assets assigned to the current requester. Computer components and Computer Set type objects cannot be selected. (T59854ALVAO)
  • SD Console – Request/Template – Edit – the Device field – Select from tree – the objects tree only displays devices that the logged-in user is authorized to see in the tree. (T62279ALVAO)
  • SD – the Device field – the definition of the default function ftDeviceSearch has been changed. The custom function ftDeviceSearch_Custom is no longer supported. Now it is necessary to create a function called ftDeviceSearch_Custom2 which will have the same definition as ftDeviceSearch. (T59854ALVAO)
  • SD WebApp – Person selection – the definition of the default procedure spPersonSearch has been changed. The custom function spPersonSearch_Custom is no longer supported. Now it is necessary to create a function called spPersonSearch_Custom2 which will have the same definition as spPersonSearch. (T63881ALVAO)
  • SD – Request priorities are no longer defined in the tHdTicketPriority table. The existing custom values of the Priority field remain unchanged. (T63243ALVAO)
  • SD – The system processes Service request and Request for change were renamed to correspond to the ITIL terminology. They were renamed in the following languages: Czech, Polish, Slovak. (T45272ALVAO)

New functionalities and changes

Common for all ALVAO products

  • ALVAO – Console – Tables – when moving a column with the mouse, the table moves automatically so that the column can be placed in a position outside the view. (T66107ALVAO)
  • ALVAO – ImportAD – importing members of groups from other trusted domains is now supported. (T59893ALVAO)
  • Admin – password rules settings. (T57508ALVAO)
  • ALVAO WebApp – Sign in – ALVAO WebApp is protected against password-guessing attack. This protection can be strengthened by enabling CAPTCHA. (T57507ALVAO)
  • ALVAO WebApp – Sign in – it is possible to set the length of the period of inactivity after which the user will be automatically signed out. (T57509ALVAO)
  • ALVAO WebApp – Requests – Requests/objects/people/organizations found – if the table is short, the detail of the record will appear under the last row of the results table. (T58719ALVAO)
  • Admin – Manage – Languages – Export – translations that are to be added or updated are highlighted in the exported file. (T63902ALVAO)
  • Admin – Manage – Languages – Import – it is now checked whether any of the original texts to be translated have changed. (T62144ALVAO)
  • Admin – Manage – Languages – the ALVAO system language is always included in the menu of preferred languages. (T65670ALVAO)
  • Admin – Manage – Languages – texts in the ALVAO system language are not exported to the translation workbook as columns for translation, but only as original texts. (T65670ALVAO)
  • The terms Integrated logon or Integrated security have been replaced with Integrated authentication. (T59821ALVAO)
  • Admin – the names of dialogs for global settings of ALVAO applications have been unified. (T58925ALVAO)

ALVAO Asset Management

  • AM – Property definition – Number data type – it is possible to create and work with Number type properties (decimal numbers). The existing properties can be converted between the Number and Text data types. (T58651ALVAO)
  • AM – a new property, Person responsible for asset, allows to keep track of who is responsible for the jointly used asset, e.g. the asset in the department under the responsibility of the department manager. (T54541ALVAO)
  • AM – The properties Person responsible for software and User have new icons. (T65236ALVAO)
  • AM Console – searching in the tree is now faster. (T65402ALVAO)
  • AM – Detection of monitors – all monitors connected to a computer are detected and also created as objects in the tree. (T58668ALVAO)
  • AM – Detection of monitors – all displays of notebooks and connected projectors are detected, but they are not created as objects in the tree. (T58668ALVAO)
  • AM – Detection of monitors via MS SCCM – information about monitors are taken from the new WMI classes. Refer to the settings for more information. (T62825ALVAO)
  • AM – Detection – detections containing data older than those currently registered are not loaded and thus do not replace newer data. (T57841ALVAO)
  • AM Console – Detection – the Detect again command has been renamed to Detect. The command does not delete the details of selected detections but plans new ones. (T32224ALVAO)
  • AM Console – Overview of licenses and installations – Bottom table – a new column called Record kind added. This column can be used to better distinguish and, if necessary, filter by individual types of records. (T57842ALVAO)

  • AM Console/WebApp – Software – the License assigned without reason record type now uses the standard License icon. (T57842ALVAO, T67700ALVAO)
  • AM Console/WebApp – Software – the name of the Product and Operating system record types has been changed to Installation. The icon has also been adapted accordingly. (T57842ALVAO, T67700ALVAO)
  • AM Console – Overview of licenses and installations – Bottom table – the icon in the Object column now shows the real object icon. (T57842ALVAO)

  • AM Console – License Registry – when the License Registry is opened from the AM Console main menu, the filter is not preset to the currently selected computer or user. (T63393ALVAO)
  • AM – Print reports – Entrusted property list – serves as a list of assets assigned to the user. As opposed to the Internal cumulative handover protocol, it is not required to specify the person handing over and the recipient and no document is created. (T63126ALVAO)
  • AM – SQL queries – in the Query.Computer, Query.Node, and Query.User views, the data types of the object properties columns correspond to the property types. After changing the data type of any property it is necessary to refresh data for reports. (T58651ALVAO)
  • AM – Data analysis – the workbook is also available in English. (T54474ALVAO)
  • ALVAO SAM Assistant – the SAM Manager Report has been renamed and is also available in English. (T54911ALVAO)
  • AM – Internal handover protocol, cumulative – the link to the Labor Code has been updated. (T60394ALVAO)
  • AM Collector – Settings – the check box Use the same database connection as used by the Console has been deleted. (T58441ALVAO)

Batch operations

  • SD WebApp – Requests – Assign to solver / Assign to me / Return to operator – the commands can be executed in batch mode over multiple requests. (T59951ALVAO)
  • SD WebApp – Requests – Resolve/Reopen – the commands can be executed in batch mode over multiple requests. (T59935ALVAO)
  • SD WebApp – Requests – Due date – the command can be executed in batch mode over multiple requests. (T59952ALVAO)
  • SD WebApp – Requests – Send message / Note – the commands can be executed in batch mode over multiple requests. (T59955ALVAO)

New / Write request

  • SD – New / Write request – the Service field – when creating a new request, service operators can select a service from the service tree. (T63757ALVAO)
  • SD Console – New request – it is no longer necessary to sign in to ALVAO WebApp. When the form is displayed, the user will be signed in automatically under the account of the user signed in to the SD Console. (T66262ALVAO)
  • SD WebApp – Write request – the Custom New Request Form is displayed immediately after a service is selected; it is not necessary to click on the Open form button. (T56374ALVAO)
  • SD – New / Write request – the Device field – when creating a new request, service operators can select a device from the objects tree. (T62279ALVAO)
  • SD WebApp – New / Write / Edit request / Custom form – the Device field – object icons are shown in the menu. (T59854ALVAO)
  • SD WebApp – New / Write request – the Device field – the Show all devices check box has been canceled. (T59854ALVAO)
  • SD WebApp/Console – New / Write / Edit request / Custom form – the Device field – you can search in the list by entering the path in the tree or the object kind. (T59854ALVAO)
  • SD WebApp/Console – New / Write / Edit request / Custom form – the Device field – only assets assigned to the requester can be selected from the list. When searching in the list, the user can also select objects that he/she is authorized to see. (T59854ALVAO)
  • SD – New request (Console) / Write request (WebApp) – the option Assign to solver is disabled by default even for solvers for the service. (T53924ALVAO)
  • SD WebApp – Person selection – the following items have been added to autocomplete suggestions: department, office, personal number, organization, office phone, and cell phone. (T63881ALVAO)
  • SD WebApp – Write / New linked request – the descriptions of the Service and SLA fields are collapsed into one row by default to make the form simpler. (T66263ALVAO)
  • SD WebApp – Write / New linked / Edit request – the descriptions of custom items are not displayed by default. You can use the question mark button to display the descriptions. (T66263ALVAO)

Approving

  • SD – Approval schemes – the requester step can be added to the scheme. (T63883ALVAO)
  • SD – Approving – the subject of the notifications of requests received for approval contains the following text for better clarity: "For approval". (T65096ALVAO)
  • SD – Approval schemes – automatic approval by requester can be disabled. (T63883ALVAO)
  • SD – Approving – a record of automatic approval of the step by the requester is saved to the log. (T63883ALVAO)
  • SD – Approving – Custom form – it is possible to use custom forms for request approval/rejection in individual steps of the approval schemes. (T62523ALVAO)
  • SD Console – Requests – Delete – pending approval is automatically canceled for deleted requests. (T64010ALVAO)

Multi-language ability

  • SD – the processes of the services can be localized into any language. A signed-in user will see the process name, the statuses and descriptions of the requests, and the instructions for solvers in his/her preferred language. (T59959ALVAO)
  • SD – a signed-in user will see the name and description of a service in his/her preferred language if the corresponding translations are available. (T63238ALVAO)
  • SD – the SLA can be localized into any language. The signed in user will see the SLA and description in his/her preferred language. (T59959ALVAO)
  • SD – the Custom items of the request can be localized into any language. A signed-in user will see the names and descriptions of custom values as well as the values of items from the value list in his/her preferred language. (T59961ALVAO)
  • SD – a signed-in user will see the values of the Priority field in his/her preferred language. (T63243ALVAO)
  • SD – custom notifications for requesters can be localized into any language. A requester will receive notifications in his/her preferred language. (T59963ALVAO)
  • SD – Request – Communication/Log – the events related to operations performed by the solver team are generated in the language of service. (T58934ALVAO)
  • SD – Request – Communication/Log – the events related to approval results are displayed in the user's preferred language. (T63761ALVAO)

  • SD WebApp – Mixed mode authentication offers integrated authentication to computers from the domain only. (T66677ALVAO)

  • SD WebApp – Request – Communication – a requester who has no other role on the service will only see commands for events that are relevant to his/her communication with the solver. He/she will not see the Reply to all and Forward commands. (T54185ALVAO)

  • Admin – SLA – Alert sending rule – Send alert – Individually and immediately – it is now checked every 15 minutes if the conditions for sending an alert have been met. In previous versions it was checked every 5 minutes. (T69572ALVAO)
