Prior to upgrade to a new version, read the Important Warnings chapter. After that, the list of news and changes in the new version follows in the "New functionalities and changes" chapter. You can find the continuously updated list of released updates at the end of the document.

Important Warnings

This section contains the description of changes in the new product version that may cause certain problems in case of upgrades from legacy versions and/or running the new version. Please read this information carefully before upgrading to the new version.
We also recommend reading the list of known issues in the released versions, see Known Issues.

Common for all ALVAO products

  • ALVAO WebApp – LDAP server and default domain settings – the settings are moved from the Web.config file to the database and it isn't transferred automatically during the upgrade. Set these values again in the ALVAO Admin – Manage – Settings on the Active Directory tab. (T50053ALVAO)
  • ALVAO WebApp – Logging into the application – users who have been imported into ALVAO from the Active Directory (AD) log in during the form authentication only using the password from AD and can no longer use the password saved in ALVAO. (T50053ALVAO)
  • Admin, AM/SD Console – Logging into the application – only users loaded from AD can log in by integrated authentication (i.e. automatically without entering id and password). During the login also the AD user account SID is checked. (T50053ALVAO)

ALVAO Asset Management

  • AM – Object security – behavior of the authorization to "Move" has been changed. Meaning of the authorization to "Insert objects" has been changed to "Create any objects." See the object security. (T45565ALVAO)
  • AM – Properties – the data type of "Warranty expiration," "Technical inspection valid until," "Purchase date," "Date of next service inspection," "Stocktaking date" system properties will be changed from Text to Date during the next upgrade. Only valid values are converted. Original values (and invalid ones) will remain in the newly created properties "<property name (old)>." After upgrade follow the instructions in Changing the Text Type Property to Date Type Property. (T53421ALVAO)
  • AM – Computer kind – the Computer kind property will be deleted from all the objects with the Computer kind during the upgrade. Objects with the Computer kind will be converted into new object kinds according to the original value of the Computer kind property, e.g. Computer/desktop, Computer/notebook, Computer/server, etc. The computers without the Computer kind property or with the "" value will be changed into the Computer/desktop computer type during the upgrade. Templates for the individual computer types are located in the Computers folder. After upgrade we recommend to edit the computer templates so the Computer/virtual template contains only a computer, not a computer set and monitor. We also recommend to delete unused properties from the property templates (e.g. the Host machine property from the Computer/server). (T13892ALVAO)
  • AM Console – the object will be unified automatically according to the new object kind template (if such one exists) during the object change. (T54500ALVAO)
  • AM Console – Log records – deleting the Log record means only hiding it. Permanent deletion of records is not possible. Records generated automatically can not be edited. The authorization to edit the records with the Note type have only the note authors. (T31319ALVAO)
  • AM – Object templates Computer – we recommend to delete the Type designation property if you don't use it. (The Computer object template doesn't have this property anymore in the newly created databases.) (T47903ALVAO)

ALVAO Service Desk

  • SD – Scheduling module – the module has been removed, i.e. the Estimated work (hours), Order in Queue, Due date by Queue, and Preliminary Planning (hours) item have been deleted from the request. If you want to convert the existing values in the Estimated work (hours) item into a custom request item before the upgrade, contact technical support. (T13919ALVAO)
  • SD – Waiting for requester – if the SLA is currently paused for the request, the Due date column in the table doesn't contain any value. These requests are ordered behind the requests with determined due date when ordered by icon. Unlike for the requests without due date, the No resolution due date has been set for the request icon is not displayed next to it. (T48019ALVAO)
  • SD WebApp – Request links – the operator, solver, irregular solver, or manager on any other service (membership in any of the solver teams) role is sufficient for the user to add/edit/remove link of any request. (T50672ALVAO)
  • SD Console – new linked request can be created with a link to only one request. (T54520ALVAO)
  • SD WebApp – Write request – section with the Other Items custom items is collapsed after loading the form. You can view the custom items outside the Other Items section immediately after loading the form using the View on the General tab settings. (T57076ALVAO)
  • ALVAO Admin – Person – the Extra<1–3> fields have been replaced by custom items of person available on the Other tab. Contact administrators can view and edit those custom items in the Service Desk Console. If the custom items of person with the extra<1–3> column name (no matter the case in the name) already exist in the database, the upgrade will end unsuccessfully. In this case contact technical support. (T31710ALVAO)
  • SD – Request – the Requested due date system item has been canceled. In case it has been used, it will be converted into custom item. Custom forms using the Requested due date custom item have to be edited to use the custom item using the ColumnsControl element. If the original item has been used only within testing, we recommend to delete the new custom item. (T48055ALVAO)
  • SD – Request creation – if the request has been assigned to solver immediately, the notification for a new request won't be sent to operators and solver. (T45965ALVAO)
  • ALVAO WebApp – Message format – you no longer can send messages in the plain text format. The HTML format is used. (T50400ALVAO)
  • ALVAO WebApp – Request creation – the user computer name (hostname) is not pre-filled into Device number item when creating a request. (T55748ALVAO)

ALVAO Monitoring

  • Monitoring Portal – Logging into the application – users who have been imported into ALVAO from the AD log in during the form authentication only using the password from AD and can no longer use the password saved in ALVAO. (T50053ALVAO)
